Waterford Oaks Senior Care

With our in-house therapy team available seven days a week, your therapy is always consistent. She was a patient there for 3 months and was very well taken care of. She was admitted there after a 2 month stay at a local hospital.
The new Executive Director is very good and the activity department works hard to schedule daily events and enjoyable entertainment. The other residents are upbeat and interesting and our mother has made some wonderful new friends. The many sitting rooms and patios give a spaciousness to the residents' environment by adding alternative spots to visit with their family and friends. The main downfall is that the food choices in the dining room are inconsistent in quality and not particularly appropriate for senior diets.

While 24-hour awake staff is not required by state licensing, certain Memory Care facilities may have caregivers awake at night to accommodate your Loved One. Right from the start, our Healthcare Team gets to know the Resident and support network to understand their care needs. Additionally, we begin by putting together a ‘life story’ document, which works together with a tailored care plan to communicate to the healthcare team the individual’s wishes and what is important to them. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Often staff members are pulled in from other places to fill in from assisted living, front desk, maintenance, and even the chef. Even though food is supposed to be served restaurant style, for at least the last two weeks there has only been a buffet - which is particularly challenging for residents with mobility issues. My parent says they have the same offerings for lunch and dinner with the scheduled dinner time to rotate residents through. Even with this, I hear sometimes there are no plates or silverware and very little staff to even man the buffet. Previous to the buffets, I have dined with my mother on at least five occasions. Generally the service is slow and erratic, and the plates are rarely cleared or spots at tables turned over to allow for community seating.
We offer a fully tailored activities programme, created around each individual Resident to help them to be physically active, mentally stimulated and socially connected. We engage with our local community inside and outside of the Home, offering weekly tours around the island to points of interest and events either with one member of staff or as a group using our company minibus. We also welcome local schools and community groups into our settings for regular visits.
We endeavour to create a bespoke model of care which provides genuine home-like environments, so that Residents can enjoy enriched and full lives. Our 24-hour Healthcare Team take an flexible approach, reacting to the changing care needs of the individual ensuring that they feel safe and well cared for. We do understand that moving to an unfamiliar environment can be difficult, so we encourage Residents to bring familiar items with them and we strive to personalise the rooms to the individual’s wishes.
The matron is always quick to get in touch with me if there is a problem with Derek and when he had a fall his carer stayed with him all the time we were in A and E. So I cannot be happier with his care which is a great weight off my mind. Our rooms are equipped with a Nurse call system and all of the specialized equipment required for the comfort, safety and care of the Resident. The rooms are well appointed with televisions and all of the comforts of home.
This datapoint is a measure of the percentage of long-term residents taking antipsychotic drugs. While antipsychotic medications serve an important medical purpose, it is important to make sure these medications are being used only where medically required. In some situations, excessive reliance on these medications may mean a facility is using these medications to control patient behavior. This indicates the percentage of patients who suffered from a major fall. Falls leading to major injuries are considered by many in the nursing home industry to be a barometer of the quality of nursing care at a nursing home. Falls which result in injury are routinely caused by lower levels of patient supervision.
